Project Introduction

This is our second project for automotive processing and manufacturing workshop and storage recently.Because of the first project, the customer was very satisfied with the quality of our products and felt confident to offer the second project to us.


We know clear that as an automobile processing and production workshop,the requirements for the working environment and site are higher than those of ordinary product processing workshops.It must meet the below conditions:

  • Sufficient space: The workshop should have adequate space to accommodate the assembly lines, workstations, storage areas, and other necessary facilities.

  • Proper ventilation and air quality: The workshop should have proper ventilation systems in place to maintain good indoor air quality.

  • Adequate lighting: Sufficient lighting is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the production processes.

  • Safety measures: The workshop should be equipped with appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of workers. This includes emergency exits, fire suppression systems, and occupational health and safety protocols.

  • Quality control systems: A well-equipped automobile production workshop should have quality control systems in place to monitor and ensure the production of high-quality vehicles.


Here are the technical parameters for the steel structure frame:

STEEL STRUCTURE DESIGN SPECIFICATION

1. Loads

Roof dead load: 0.3 kN/m 2

Roof live load: 0.25 kN/m2

Wind speed or wind load: 100km/h

Anti-seismic:7 grade


2. Materials

Main beam and post: GB Q355B grade, welded H steel section.

Sub-steel structure: GB Q235B grade, steel bar, pipe, angle steel, etc.

Purlin: galvanized, C-section.


3. Welding

The minimum size of the fillet welding for any that is not defined in the

drawings shall be 6mm with full welding.


4. Fasteners( bolts and nuts) for jointing

High Strength bolts Class 10.9 used to connect the Steel Columns and

pressure type high strength bolts Class 10.9 used to connect the

constructional elements.


5. Derusting and painting

Shot blasting to 2.5 and Applying Paint with the following

1st coat of Primary anti-rust paint 30 microns (Epoxy zinc-rich primer)

2nd coat of Primary anti-rust paint 30 microns(Alkyd finish)

Fire retardant coating sprayed on site.


There are 3 method of steel structure frame surface treatment: 

1) Spray paint: epoxy zinc-rich primer and alkyd topcoat.

2) Hot-dip galvanizing: pickling and then galvanizing, generally 80~180 microns.

3) Fire retardant coatings are sprayed on site: epoxy zinc-rich primer and epoxy cloud iron middle paint.

Each method has its own characteristics, and customers can choose the solution that suits them according to their needs and budget.


Our client chose the 3rd method because there are relatively expensive machines and intensive workers working in the workshop, so safety is the most important thing.


Before applying fireproof coating on the steel structure, the surface of the steel frame should be treated with anti-corrosion. It is recommended to use epoxy-rich zinc anti-corrosion primer and epoxy cloud iron for intermediate paint. The anti-corrosion primer must be dry before applying the fireproof coating. It is important to note that if the fireproof coating is needed, there is no need to use a finished coat because topcoat and fireproof coating are not compatible. This means that if topcoat is applied before fireproof coating, the fireproof coating will not adhere to the surface of the steel structure and will not achieve the fireproof effect.
