Project info
The project is located near the dock and is a seafood warehouse.
To utilize the space more efficiently, our design includes only one row of columns in the middle, with a span of 32.6m. As a result, it becomes a warehouse with a 2-bay structure.
Being close to the sea, the air has a high salt content, which may potentially shorten the lifespan of the steel structure (usually around 50 years). We offered the client two options for surface treatment of the steel structure: hot-dip galvanizing and painting. Due to budget constraints, our client chose the painting option. This is because hot-dip galvanizing is approximately 6 times more expensive than painting.
Although the client prefer the painting option, it is worth mentioning that they built a 3m high brick wall and connected the steel structure at that height. This protects the main steel structure and prevents moisture from affecting the ground. With this waterproofing measure, even without hot-dip galvanizing, the lifespan of the entire warehouse can still be ensured.
